Ramey' /></a>There are a variety of things that people don&#8217;t want to talk about—or even think about—and one of them is end of life, especially their own. Who can blame them? The idea is not to talk about end of life but living life as long as it lasts. How this concept is communicated is what makes the difference in how people accept changes in their health and in the health of those they care about. Join us to learn more about maintaining a positive message, communication tools for dealing with difficult topics, and ways to open lines of communication.</p>
<p><strong>About our Speaker—</strong>Melanie G. Ramey is the Executive Director/CEO of The HOPE of Wisconsin, an organization that oversees all hospice and palliative care organizations in the State of Wisconsin. Ramey holds professional degrees in social work and law. She is a successful social services and healthcare administrator, consultant, and entrepreneur. She is a frequent presenter at state, regional and national meetings on a variety of social, health, and legal issues. Her presentations are characterized as substantive and reflecting her wit and humor. Under her leadership The HOPE of Wisconsin has gained a national reputation for its development of several innovative programs. The HOPE of Wisconsin is recognized as the &#8220;go to&#8221; organization on end of life care in the State of Wisconsin.</p>
<p>She is a member of numerous state and national committees related to healthcare in general and end of life care specifically. She serves as a consultant to the Societe Francaise D&#8217;Accompagnement et do Soins Palliatifs and as an informal advisor to the National Hospice of Iceland. In addition she is president of the League of Women Voters of Wisconsin, an active Rotarian, member of Tempo, Vantage Point, Executive Committee of the Community Health Charities of Wisconsin, and a member of the grants committee of A Fund For Women.  She is a recipient of numerous awards and citations. In her spare time(?) she loves to read mysteries, garden, travel, and play the harp.</p>
<p><strong>Menu—</strong>Chef&#8217;s Choice Buffet includes meat and vegetarian entrees, salad bar, rolls, and beverage.</p>
